When you open the studio, the line next to its title welcomes you and walks you through your first deck.
Nothing here is needed to install. It is for when a question comes up later.
Windows 10 or Windows 11, and an internet connection for prices. PENDING Memory, disk, processor, version and size are measured on the first build.
Crypto needs nothing more. For stocks, connect your broker in Settings → Connections: most give a key and a secret; Interactive Brokers and Futu/moomoo need their own program signed in instead. Prices your broker doesn’t carry can come from a market data service. Keys stay on this computer, in Windows Credential Manager. Connect by country →
Prices and alerts are handled by the app on your computer. Close it, or let the computer sleep, and the line stops and alerts don’t fire. Messages to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp or a webhook are sent from this computer too.
Closing the window keeps the app in the system tray so alerts keep working; quit from the tray icon to stop it. Both are in Settings → App: Stay in the tray when closed (on by default) and Start with Windows.
Desktop alerts need Windows notification permission for ScoutDex. If alerts don’t appear, check Windows Settings → Notifications.
By default clicks pass through the line. In ticker settings you can switch it to Take: the line then stops when you point at it, scrolls with the wheel and opens a card for a symbol you click.
One with the free ticker. Deck includes three; each more is $10 a year, up to five. Beyond five, a second licence. Sign in on each computer and your decks follow; your broker key is entered once on each and never copied between them.
The app updates itself while your plan is active. Plans renew automatically; with renewal off, the version you have keeps running and only updates stop. If a broker or exchange changes its API, an older version may stop connecting to it until you update.
