One key in the app,
then components, a deck and a line.

Connect an API key from your broker once, in the app. Then build components, tick them into a deck, and put the deck on a ticker line.

Build this one in the app. The browser version of the studio can’t reach the key stored on your computer, so this deck is built in the ScoutDex app. Download →

YOUR BROKER’S KEYKEY STAYS ON YOUR COMPUTER

BEFORE YOU START — CONNECT

Get the key right,
and you may only need one.

Everything on your line comes from what your broker account can see.

An API key from your broker

ScoutDex only reads prices with it and never places an order. Keys are entered only in the app, never in the browser. Where to get it →

Five brokers are supported now

Interactive Brokers, Korea Investment (KIS), Alpaca, Futu/moomoo and Upstox. More come in later versions.

One key opens that broker’s markets

A broker that trades Asia, Europe and the US from a single account brings all three through one key.

Trading access isn’t live prices

Many brokers sell real-time data per exchange. Without it you get delayed prices, or none.

Some brokers serve one program at a time

They send live prices to one program at a time, so connecting ScoutDex can stop live prices in the broker’s own app.

STEP 1 — BUILD A COMPONENT

A component is one list,
built once.

Each stock component has the markets it covers and one of four kinds.

Only what your account can see

If a market is missing, it isn’t in your account’s data. We don’t hide any. ETFs are included.

Holdings and picked by hand

Holdings are the stocks you own, typed in once — we never read your positions. Picked by hand is any symbol you name.

Leaders

The top N in a sector or industry, ranked by market cap, dollar volume or change. Sectors follow the eleven GICS sectors.

Rules

Up to three conditions, and a stock must meet all of them.

How a rule is written

A rule holds up to three conditions, and a stock must meet all of them — for example opened > 3% from yesterday and relative volume above 2×. For either-or, make a second component and tick both into the deck.

STEP 2 — ADD IT TO A DECK

Tick components
into a deck.

Linked, not copied

Edit a component and every deck that uses it changes with it.

One list, no repeats

A deck is every component you tick. A symbol that comes in twice is shown once.

Alerts live in the deck

Each deck has an Alerts tab. A symbol with an alert stays on the line even when a rule drops it.

Three kinds of deck

Symbols, news and indicators. Indexes and FX rates go on an indicator deck.

STEP 3 — PUT THE DECK ON A LINE

Then the deck goes
on a ticker line.

Two tickers, three lines each

Up to two tickers, one per monitor. Each line carries one deck.

The line title shows the session

It shows the deck name and the market status: pre-market, open, after hours or closed.

Mind the colour rule

Red means a rise in Seoul and a fall in New York. Up/down colours are set per ticker, and each market can have its own line.

Each ticker has its own settings

Position, speed, font, up/down colours, background, lines and mouse. By default the mouse passes through; with Take, pointing stops the line, the wheel scrolls it and a click opens a symbol card.

WORTH KNOWING

How it behaves
once it’s running.

The studio shows the loop time

Before you save, the studio shows how long one pass of the line takes at your speed.

Exchanges keep their own hours

Stocks stop moving when their exchange closes, and the line title says so.

Our server sends nothing

Alerts go out from the app on your computer, so the app must be running.

SMALLER QUESTIONS

The ones that come up
before anyone connects.

Stocks and crypto stay in separate decks.

One is public, one comes through your broker, so they can’t share a list. Each deck can take its own line.

Five brokers are supported now.

Interactive Brokers, Korea Investment (KIS), Alpaca, Futu/moomoo and Upstox. The connect pages show where to get a key, country by country.

The key stays on your computer.

It’s entered only in the app, kept in your computer’s keychain and used locally. A second machine asks you to paste it again.

Stocks start at Deck.

The free app runs a crypto deck we made, so you can see the ticker work first — and you have fifteen days to change your mind.
